Cleveland-based University Hospitals is expanding its remote patient monitoring program across its entire system.

The expansion will equip 1,500 hospital beds with Masimo’s wireless Radius VSM devices and Patient SafetyNet system, making University Hospitals one of the first health systems to implement Masimo’s continuous monitoring technology for adult and pediatric patients in general care units, according to an Oct. 28 news release.

The system began piloting Masimo’s technology before the COVID-19 pandemic and expanded its use in 2020 to monitor discharged patients remotely. The latest phase of implementation will extend continuous monitoring to nearly all inpatients, excluding those already under intensive care surveillance.

University Hospitals is rolling out the technology in phases and expects to fully equip all units across its system by fall 2026, according to the release.
