Northwell, Wellstar + more spending millions on innovation efforts

Hospitals and health systems are increasing their investments in innovation efforts to spur news ideas and advance technology-enabled innovation.

Here is how much four hospitals and health systems are investing in innovation efforts:

  • Peoria, Ill.-based OSF HealthCare and Bradley University gave out their first Innovation for Health grants totaling nearly $200,000.

  • Marietta, Ga.-based Wellstar Health System said it plans to open a center for a $100 million innovation fund in Atlanta.

  • New Hyde Park, N.Y.-based Northwell Health awarded $1 million to two employee-driven healthcare innovation projects after 84 projects were submitted for consideration.
  • San Diego-based Sharp HealthCare opened a $70 million innovation and education center dubbed the Prebys Innovation & Education Center in San Diego on April 14.
