Operational expenses associated with an EHR implementation can range from licensing and consulting fees to money spent on hardware and training. Here are five of the most expensive EHR installs Becker’s Hospital Review has reported on:
- Altamonte Springs, Fla.-based AdventHealth’s efforts to implement Epic EHR across its system, which began last year, brought the cost to $355 million in 2022.
- Winchester, Va.-based Valley Health is installing its own upgraded version of the Epic EHR system. The install is expected to cost $50 million and complete in November.
- Aspen (Colo.) Valley Hospital went live with an Epic EHR system Oct. 1. The cost to license Epic for the hospital was $6.1 million, with additional training, staff, new interfaces, and installing Epic-compatible systems bringing the total cost to $16 million.
- Wallingford, Conn.-based Gaylord Specialty Healthcare began installing Meditech’s EHR system last July. The install is expected to cost $7.6 million.
- Gillette, Wyo.-based Campbell County Health is switching EHRs from Meditech to Epic in a move that will cost $8 million and go live in September.
