Epic is continuing to grow its hospital EHR market share lead, though its gains weren’t as pronounced in 2025 as in previous years.

Here are 14 things to know about the EHR giant’s run of success:

1. Over 325 million patients currently have medical records in Epic.

2. More than 190 million patients have Epic’s MyChart patient portal (which is now the U.S.’s leading organ donation registry pathway).

3. Epic’s Cosmos research platform contains deidentified data from 1.7 trillion medical events.

4. The company has roughly 200 AI projects in the works.

5. Epic added 77 U.S. multispecialty acute care hospitals in 2025, increasing its market share to 43.7% from 42.3% in 2024, KLAS Research reported.

6. The EHR vendor also gained 18,679 hospital beds in 2025, growing its market share of beds to 56.9% from 54.9% in 2024.

7. Epic’s hospital market share is up from 31% in 2021, though its 2025 gain was the lowest by percentage points in that time span.

8. Epic is also the market share leader among U.S. health systems (both large and small), standalone hospitals with over 200 beds, academic medical centers, and children’s hospitals.

9. The company’s revenue increased to $6.7 billion in 2025, more than doubling in the previous five years.

10. Epic has approximately 15,000 employees worldwide.

11. Epic’s global headquarters in Verona, Wis., has six campuses

12. Founder and CEO Judy Faulkner’s net worth is estimated at $9.6 billion, according to Forbes, though she has pledged to give away the vast majority of her fortune to charity.

13. Ms. Faulkner, who started in the company in a Wisconsin basement apartment in 1979, donates about $100 million a year in proceeds from stock sales to her foundation, Roots & Wings, and the stock is then offered back to Epic employees.

14. Ms. Faulkner, 82, owns an estimated 43% of Epic, though she controls all of its voting shares and intends for the company to remain privately owned in perpetuity.
