Epic continued to grow its hospital EHR market share lead in 2025, though the company didn’t gain as many hospitals as it did the previous two years, KLAS Research reported.
Here are eight things to know from the IT researcher’s annual EHR market share report, released May 14:
1. Epic picked up 77 acute care hospitals in 2025, down from 180 in 2024 and 154 in 2023.
2. TruBridge was the only other net winner, gaining two acute care hospitals, with net losses at Oracle Health (56), Meditech (seven) and Altera Digital Health (six).
3. Epic gained 18,679 acute care hospital beds in 2025, with TruBridge picking up 151 and net losses at Oracle Health (14,676), Altera Digital Health (2,634) and Meditech (1,015).
4. Epic’s acute care hospital market share increased to 43.7% from 42.3% in 2024, and is followed by Oracle Health (21.9%), Meditech (14.7%), TruBridge (7.6%), and Altera Digital Health (2.9%).
5. Epic’s market share by percentage of beds grew to 56.9% from 54.9% in 2024, and is followed by Oracle Health (20.4%), Meditech (12.5%), Altera Digital Health (2.8%), and TruBridge (2.4%).
6. Epic’s wins were primarily driven by smaller health systems (two to 10 hospitals), as the company has broadened its reach in recent years to small health systems and midsize standalone hospitals.
7. Only two large health systems (more than 10 hospitals) made enterprisewide EHR purchasing decisions in 2025 — both chose Epic.
8. Meditech had strong retention of legacy customers, with 84% sticking with the vendor.
