Epic increased its hospital EHR market share again in 2025, continuing a gradual upward growth trajectory, KLAS Research reported.
While the EHR vendor didn’t gain as many acute care multispecialty hospitals as it did in 2023 and 2024, its market share rose for the fifth consecutive year, according to the health IT researcher’s May 14 report.
Much of Epic’s growth came from small health systems (those with two to 10 hospitals), after only two large systems made enteprisewide EHR purchasing decisions in 2025. The company has broadened its reach in recent years to smaller organizations after cornering the market on their larger counterparts.

2025
Epic controlled 43.7% of the acute care EHR hospital market share in 2025, picking up 77 hospitals and 18,679 beds.
2024
In 2024, Epic’s market share stood at 42.3%. The EHR vendor had its largest net gain to date as 10 major health systems with 108 hospitals (and 180 total) chose the vendor — 67 of them from just two organizations.
2023
Epic captured 39.1% of the EHR market in 2023, driven by the acquisition of 154 hospitals and 28,788 beds. Notably, 77 of these hospital wins came from three major health systems.
2022
By 2022, Epic’s market share reached 35.9%, adding 83 hospitals and 14,330 beds.
2021
Epic commanded 31% of the hospital EHR market in 2021 and was the only EHR vendor to report a net increase.
