Hospital acquisitions and affiliations have led to EHR transitions in 2026 and plans for future rollouts.
Here are seven changes detailed in Becker’s reporting this year:
- Hartford (Conn.) HealthCare acquired Manchester Memorial Hospital from Prospect Medical Holdings on Jan. 1. Hartford plans to move the hospital and its Rockville campus to Epic, likely within a year of the acquisition.
- Prime Healthcare Foundation acquired Lewiston-based Central Maine Healthcare on Feb. 16. The three-hospital system went live on Epic May 1.
- Joplin, Mo.-based Freeman Health System acquired four Arkansas hospitals from Community Health Systems on June 1. Freeman plans to extend Epic to the acquired hospitals, targeting a November 2027 go-live that would put all eight of its hospitals on one EHR.
- Charleston, W.Va.-based Vandalia Health acquired Grafton City Hospital Sept. 1. The hospital is included in Vandalia’s planned 2028 rollout of Epic across the system.
- Milford (Mass.) Regional, which joined UMass Memorial Health in 2024, went live on the health system’s Epic EHR April 1. The move gave hospitals across UMass Memorial access to the same patient information.
- OSF HealthCare Saint Katharine Medical Center in Dixon, Ill., formerly KSB Hospital, joined OSF in 2025 and transitioned to Epic April 1, 2026. The change also brought patients onto OSF’s MyChart portal.
- Terre Haute, Ind.-based Union Health acquired Terre Haute Regional Hospital from HCA Healthcare in December 2025. Union uses Cerner and the acquired hospital uses Meditech; the three-hospital system plans to go live on Epic Jan. 9, 2027.
