The American Hospital Association and Microsoft have introduced new and updated offerings for rural hospitals as part of the latter’s “Rural Health Resiliency” program.

The program provides free and discounted services to eligible designated critical access hospitals and rural emergency hospitals, according to a Sept. 26 release from the AHA. Services include cybersecurity assessments, cloud capability evaluations, curated training and foundational cyber certifications for hospital IT staff.

Among the new offerings, Microsoft will provide a one-year extension of Windows 10 extended security updates and an AI-based “Claims Denial Navigator” tool to support claims management.

The effort is intended to strengthen the resilience of rural facilities against digital threats, AHA’s national cybersecurity and risk advisor for cybersecurity and risk, John Riggi, said. Scott Gee, deputy national advisor for cybersecurity and risk at the AHA, also leads the initiative.
