CMS seeks chief health informatics officer to promote interoperability

CMS is searching for an informatics expert to serve as chief health informatics officer and lead interoperability efforts among several federal agencies,  according to a recent job posting.

The individual would work with CMS Administer Seema Verma’s office and run an “interoperability tiger team,” an official told Politico Morning eHealth newsletter, and would be charged with coordinating interoperability between several agencies including the Social Security Administration and the Department of Veterans Affairs.

“As a chief health informatics officer … you will develop requirements and content for health-related IT with an initial focus on improving innovation and interoperability,” reads the description of the position, which pays up to $164,200 annually. The individual would “act as a liaison between CMS and private industry stakeholders to lead innovation and help inform CMS health IT and information management policy and operations.”
