“The healthcare industry has been talking about the promise of telemedicine for years,” Andrew O’Hara, Chiron Health founder and CEO, said in a statement. “This partnership now allows thousands of athenahealth clients to seamlessly integrate video visits into their existing clinical workflow. We believe this is a major step forward in outpatient telemedicine that will enable physician practices across the country to provide more convenient access to patients.”
Chiron Health aims to help physicians and mid-level providers connect and communicate with patients remotely using their existing devices. The HIPAA-compliant video conferencing could be used for routine-follow ups, medication adjustments and some minor urgent care issues.
