“Ubiquitous, nationwide interoperability will take time, but we’re seeing positive momentum,” Bob Robke, Cerner’s vice president of interoperability, said in a statement. “We’re proud to have our clients joining us in advancing interoperability and applaud their leadership in getting our industry one step closer to helping patients share their records with their providers, wherever they receive treatment.”

In addition to Cerner, EHR suppliers such as athenahealth and Greenway Health also boast a high volume of provider organizations using CommonWell’s software. Providers who sign up for the service are seeing the value of being able to securely exchange their patient records across organizations and the value of supporting the creation of a nationwide sharing infrastructure, according to Jitin Asnaani, executive director of CommonWell Health Alliance.
