Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada released CHEO MyChart, which enables patients and families to access their medical records through a computer or mobile device.

Prior to its implementation, the system was piloted by a number of families for one year.

CHEO MyChart is part of Epic Systems’ EHR system, which it licensed to CHEO and the Ottawa Children’s Treatment Centre. It includes patient information that’s been recorded since CHEO implemented its Epic EHR in October 2013.

“CHEO MyChart connects children, youth and families directly to their personal health information and, ultimately, to their physicians and caregivers. Patients and their families are more informed and more involved in their care,” said CHEO CEO Alex Munter. “This means the healthcare team can spend better quality time with the children and youth they care for.”
