Amazon, Google back healthcare startup Aiva

Tech rivals Amazon and Google have invested in Aiva, a startup that uses smart speakers like Google Home and Amazon Echo to connect patients and seniors with their care providers, CNET reports.

Investment amounts from Google Assistant Investment Program and Amazon’s Alexa Fund weren’t disclosed. Aiva recently raised $100,000 in a 2017 funding round.

The startup plans to use the funds to accelerate development and deployment of its voice operating system. Avia is currently piloting its voice-based operating system at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.
