OpenEvidence has raised $250 million in a funding round led by Andreessen Horowitz and Byers Capital, valuing the AI clinical decision-support platform at $15 billion.

Daniel Nadler, PhD, founder and CEO of OpenEvidence, confirmed the raise and its lead investors in a Sept. 28 email to Becker’s.

Forbes first reported the raise earlier in September, describing it as having closed the prior week. The new valuation extends a rapid climb for OpenEvidence, which reached a $12 billion valuation in January after a $250 million series D round.

OpenEvidence’s AI search tool gives physicians answers grounded in peer-reviewed studies and clinical guidelines from journals including the New England Journal of Medicine and JAMA. More than half of U.S. physicians use the platform regularly, and it is embedded into Epic workflows at health systems including New York City-based Mount Sinai Health System and Sacramento, Calif.-based Sutter Health.

Founded in 2022, OpenEvidence has raised nearly $1 billion to date as investor interest in clinical AI tools continues to accelerate.
