OpenEvidence has raised $250 million at a $12 billion valuation, becoming the most valuable healthcare AI company to date.
The startup, which has been dubbed “ChatGPT for doctors,” said Jan. 21 it closed the series D funding round led by investment firms Thrive Capital and DST Global.
OpenEvidence, which is ad-supported and free for physicians, is trained solely on medical journals and medical data. The company’s partners include the New England Journal of Medicine, the American Medical Association, the American College of Cardiology, and the National Comprehensive Cancer Network.
Over 100 million Americans were treated by a physician using OpenEvidence in 2025. The platform supported about 18 million clinical consultations in the U.S. in December alone.
Founded in 2022, the startup has surpassed $100 million in annual revenue. The company has raised about $700 million over the past 12 months, with previous investors including Rochester, Minn.-based Mayo Clinic, Google Ventures and Nvidia.
