AHIMA unveils toolkit for OCR HIPAA Phase 2 audits

The American Health Information Management Association has released its new “External HIPAA Audit Readiness Toolkit,” which helps organizations prepare for HIPAA Phase 2 audits.

Since last year, HHS’ Office for Civil Rights has been conducting on-site HIPAA Phase 2 audits to ensure healthcare organizations are complying with information privacy, security and breach notification regulations.

The “External HIPAA Audit Readiness Toolkit” provides resources and guidance to healthcare organizations, including policy templates for the privacy and security compliance program and checklists for HIPAA audit steps and procedures.
