These hospitals include Baltimore-based University of Maryland Medical Center; Glen Burnie, Md.-based UM Baltimore Washington Medical Center; Baltimore-based UMMC Midtown Campus; Baltimore-based UM Rehabilitation & Orthopaedic Institute; and Towson, Md.-based UM St. Joseph Medical Center.

UMMS attributed the recognition to the installation of an upgraded Portfolio system — and therefore a universal EHR — throughout its hospitals.

As of July 2016, approximately 1,635 of the 5,400 hospitals tracked by HIMSS Analytics had achieved stage 6.
