The EMR Adoption Model includes eight stages and measures the degree to which a hospital or health system utilizes its EMR functions. HIMSS tracks more than 5,400 hospitals on its adoption model, of which 32 percent have received Stage 6 designation in the U.S.; however only 1 percent of Canadian hospitals have achieved this level of EMR functionality.
The Stage 6 designation shows Mackenzie Health has fully automated medical records implemented across all inpatient and outpatient care settings, and that it is starting to evaluate data for care delivery process improvements and documenting significant improvements.
“HIMSS Analytics congratulates Mackenzie Health for making significant progress towards achieving advanced health IT adoption. Stage 6 represents a level of sophistication that can lead to innovative healthcare transformation,” said John H. Daniels, global vice president of HIMSS Analytics.
