Several health systems have open CIO positions after previous executives departed or retired, with some organizations naming an interim IT leader.

Here are the top 200 health systems by revenue without a permanent CIO, as of late September:

— Ardent Health (Nashville, Tenn.): Prior Chief Digital and Transformation Officer Anika Gardenhire, RN, departed for Ann Arbor-based Michigan Medicine in January 2026.

— Ballad Health (Johnson City, Tenn.): Previous CIO Pam Austin left in 2026.

— Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia: Wes Barnes has served as interim chief digital and information officer since June 2026.

— Community Health Network (Indianapolis): Previous CIO Rick Copple departed in 2026.

— Legacy Health (Portland, Ore.): Anita Iyenger, senior vice president and chief strategy officer, has been interim CIO since November 2025.

— Memorial Healthcare System (Hollywood, Fla.): Ex-Chief Digital Information Officer Jeffrey Sturman joined executive search firm WittKieffer in 2025.

— Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare (Memphis, Tenn.): Ex-CIO Tina Haskins Smith departed in 2024.

— MultiCare Health System (Tacoma, Wash.): Scott Waters has been interim CIO since 2025.

— Presbyterian Healthcare Services (Albuquerque, N.M.): Former CIO Keith Rivera left for Omaha-based Nebraska Medicine in June 2026.

— SSM Health (St. Louis): Jason Muldrow has been interim chief digital and information officer since July 2026.

— Temple Health (Philadelphia): Vinay Bharel, senior vice president of information systems operations, has served as interim CIO since August 2026.

— UC Davis Health (Sacramento, Calif.): John Cook has been interim chief information and digital health officer since 2024.

— UCI Health (Irvine, Calif.): Scott Joslyn, PharmD, senior vice president and chief innovation officer, has been interim CIO since 2025.

— UK HealthCare (Lexington, Ky.): Chief Nursing Information Officer Jessica Collins, DNP, RN, has been interim chief digital and information officer since August 2026.

— University of Maryland Medical System (Baltimore): Vishal Jain has been senior vice president and interim CIO since 2025.

— University of Vermont Health (Burlington): Former CIO Lori Boisjoli departed in July 2026.

— Wellstar Health System (Marietta, Ga.): Ex-CIO Bill Bellando joined Danville, Pa.-based Geisinger in June 2026.
