EvergreenHealth provides new cost-estimator service for consumers

EvergreenHealth, an integrated healthcare system based in Kirkland, Wash., has announced it launched a new cost-estimator service for consumers.

With the free, personalized service, consumers — via a phone call or online request — are able get an estimate for the out-of-pocket cost of their medical and surgical care, according to a news release. The estimate is based on their health insurance policy, among other factors.

Additionally, EvergreenHealth is providing more information and resources, such as cost-estimator tools and links to most major insurers’ websites, are available on a new Web page called “Understanding Your Healthcare Costs,” according to a news release.

“Few things are more complex and difficult to understand than the cost of healthcare services,” EvergreenHealth CEO Bob Malte said in the release. “There are many reasons for this, but also way too many excuses on the part of providers and health systems.”

EvergreenHealth’s goal with the cost-estimator service and Web page is “to provide consumers with resources that empower their healthcare decisions.”
