TriHealth teams up with physician group to create orthopedic hospital

Cincinnati-based TriHealth and local 26-physician group Beacon Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine are teaming up to convert TriHealth Evendale Hospital into an orthopedic hospital.

The 29-bed, Cincinnati-based hospital will be the first in the area dedicated to inpatient and outpatient orthopedic care. TriHealth Evendale currently operates as a multispecialty surgical hospital, but more than 40 percent of its surgeries are orthopedic.

Under the agreement, Beacon physicians and ambulatory surgery centers will remain independent from the hospital and the TriHealth Orthopedic and Sports Institute physicians, Beacon president Peter Cha, MD, said in a press release. Instead, the goal of the development agreement is to find efficiencies that create a more consistent experience and lower the cost of care.

TriHealth plans to transition non-orthopedic physicians at TriHealth Evendale to other locations within its network over the next 18 months.
