The expansion includes two intensive care unit floors, which together house 85 new private patient rooms, an emergency department, a Level I trauma center and a
surgical department. It also includes a federally funded Regional Ebola Treatment Center to handle threats of Ebola and other highly infectious diseases.
The exterior of the pavilion, designed by CBLH Design, is an extension of the existing structure. The interior, designed by CannonDesign, aims to integrate evidence-based design strategies and flexibility.
