Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital opens pediatric cardiac ICU

Grand Rapids, Mich.-based Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital opened its pediatric cardiac ICU, the third of its kind in the state, on Jan. 9,  according to WOOD 8, Western Michigan’s NBC affiliate.

The six-bed unit will serve children and newborns in need of intensive cardiac care before and after surgery.

The pediatric cardiac ICU was funded entirely by community donations.
