The hospital district already committed $6 million to the project in 2017, but the college required more funds for a new fourth floor for the building. The original three-story building was determined inadequate because of the rapidly rising number of students pursuing healthcare professions.
Nearly $2.7 million of the Marion County Hospital District’s newly committed funds will go toward the fourth floor addition, while the other $800,000 will convert the college’s Hampton Center location into a dental health center. The physical therapy program housed in the Hampton Center will move to the new health sciences building.
