The Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board approved the health system’s certificate of need for the new facility Tuesday.
The new 280,000-square-foot Central Campus Health Center, which will be located next to Chicago-based Stroger Hospital, will provide office space and outpatient services. It will allow Cook County Health and Hospitals System to “expand outpatient services, offer a modern patient experience, reduce operating costs, avoid costly capital renewals for dilapidated buildings and increase clinical and administrative efficiencies,” according to a statement from the health system, the Chicago Tribune reported.
The new facility is expected to open in the third quarter of 2018.
