Hospital leadership announced the construction of its replacement facility in November, with groundbreaking set for 2019 and an estimated completion date in 2022. The hospital considered other sites for the new hospital but traffic and convenience concerns ultimately influenced administrators to stay at the site of their current 41-year-old building, which will be razed after construction.
“Ultimately, it came down to we’re just lucky to have the great site that we have, we have plenty of land and a great location,” said Altru Chief Strategy Officer Dennis Reisnour, according to the Grand Forks Herald.
