Indiana hospital plans $125M expansion

La Porte (Ind.) Hospital plans to construct a $125 million, six-story hospital as early as this summer, reports the South Bend Tribune.

The design team submitted a rendering of the proposed 200,000-square-foot hospital this week, although changes may occur before the design is finalized. Now, the design team is working to determine what services will be offered on each floor. Final bed count and room size will be finalized in the coming weeks.

"Seeing what it will look like from the outside is extremely exciting and reminds us that even with all the work ahead, we are building something incredible for our community," Ashley Dickinson, La Porte Hospital CEO, told the South Bend Tribune.

The new hospital is expected to open in 2020. The location has been narrowed down to two locations within 20 acres of hospital-owned property that surrounds the existing facility.
