6 hospitals planning upgrades, expansions

The following hospitals announced or completed plans in the last two weeks to expand, upgrade or renovate their facilities:

1. Mercy Health opens emergency department, lobby of $291M tower in Michigan
Mercy Health in Muskegon, Mich., has opened the first two floors of its 10-story, $291 million medical tower.

2. NYC Health + Hospitals/Metropolitan to get $52M for infrastructure improvements
New York City-based NYC Health + Hospitals/Metropolitan, a full-service community hospital in Manhattan's East Harlem, will receive a $52 million capital investment for infrastructure improvement projects.

3. California Northstate University plans $750M teaching hospital
California Northstate University released plans to build a 250-bed teaching hospital next to its Elk Grove-based campus.  

4. CHS to build $120M Indiana hospital
Fort Wayne, Ind.-based Lutheran Health Network, part of Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems, plans to build a $120 million, 60-bed hospital in Fort Wayne.

5. Mercy Health delays plan to build $250M Ohio hospital
Cincinnati-based Mercy Health has tabled a plan to build a $250 million hospital in Warren, Ohio, citing "economic uncertainty" after GM announced it would likely close its Lordstown assembly plant in Warren, Becker's has learned. The health system is looking into other locations.

6. $450M Michigan hospital going up in South Lansing
McLaren Greater Lansing (Mich.) broke ground Dec. 17 on a $450 million hospital that will serve as a consolidated home for its two facilities in South Lansing.
