5 hospitals planning upgrades, expansions

The following hospitals announced or completed plans in the last week to expand, upgrade or renovate their facilities.

1. Covenant Health gets OK for $115M expansion at Fort Sanders Regional
Knoxville, Tenn.-based Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center — operated by Knoxville-based Covenant Health — will get a $115 million makeover after the project received approval from a zoning commission. 

2. Samaritan Medical Center starts last phase of campus upgrade: 5 notes
Watertown, N.Y.-based Samaritan Medical Center broke ground on the final phase of its multiyear campus transformation June 26. This last phase will expand its maternity and mental health units.

3. Public-private venture will establish $250M medical campus in Texas
The Medical Campus Group, in partnership with nonprofit Peachtree Foundation and real estate firm Lang and Co., will bring a 60-acre, $250 million medical campus to Mesquite, Texas.

4. Penn State Health to build 108-bed hospital
Hershey, Pa.-based Penn State Health plans to build a 108-bed acute care hospital in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. 

5. Northside Hospital opens 84-bed patient tower
Atlanta-based Northside Hospital opened its eight-story, 84-bed inpatient tower June 21.
