The initial focus of the Luddy Center for Artificial Intelligence will be on AI and machine learning approaches to digital health. The multidisciplinary facility will comprise teaching and learning spaces in which faculty and students can collaborate on AI-based research and development.
The center will be housed within the university’s school of informatics, computing and engineering, which IU trustees voted to rename in Mr. Luddy’s honor on Oct. 17.
“It is the imagination and determination of people that drive technology that makes an impact in real lives. My path has been shaped by the people who inspire me, who guide me to pursue the next innovation with the potential to transform everything,” Mr. Luddy, founder of cloud computing company ServiceNow, said in a release. “This gift will allow the next generation of researchers and students to bring together their knowledge, wisdom and ideas to create things that we never thought possible.”
