UW Health’s Eastpark Medical Center in Madison, Wis., has exceeded the system’s projections for appointment volumes one year after opening.

The seven-story, 475,000-square-foot outpatient facility opened in October 2024. UW Health leaders say demand has grown faster than anticipated in the last year, driven by strong uptake across specialty and ancillary services.

The new facility is part of UW Health’s $900 million expansion plan and comes as outpatient volumes are projected to increase by 18% over the next decade. In response to this demand, health systems are actively reshaping care delivery models to meet evolving patient needs.

Eastpark Medical Center offers more than 40 different specialties, 18 of which have already surpassed the system’s 10-year growth projections just four years into forecasting.

On average, the facility records about 1,050 clinic visits and 4,600 ancillary appointments per day.

“We’ve seen some incredible responses from patients and staff to this new space,” Teresa Neely, vice president and regional COO of UW Health, said in a Nov. 24 news release. “Our weekly volume for appointments is above what we anticipated.”

The center is also attracting new patients. About 22% of those treated at Eastpark were new to UW Health, and 27% of specialty care patients were new to that specialty.

About 750 employees now work at Eastpark Medical Center, 55% of whom were newly hired to staff the outpatient center.
