San Diego-based Scripps Health’s board of trustees has approved a long-term facilities plan to guide its growth and construction strategy.
The plan includes expanding the Scripps Memorial Hospital—La Jolla campus into a new regional campus that will feature an additional medical office building and a third hospital tower, according to a Sept. 25 health system news release shared with Becker’s.
It will combine the services of Scripps Memorial Hospital and Scripps Green Hospital, both in La Jolla, Calif. The system also plans to transition Scripps Green’s physicians, staff and services to La Jolla over five to 10 years, when the hospital will eventually close.
In San Marcos, Calif., Scripps has purchased 15 acres to develop a new medical center campus. The project will begin by building a comprehensive ambulatory facility and progress to a 120-bed acute care hospital, with the potential to expand to between 200 and 230 beds.
Scripps Health operates five acute-care hospital campuses and more than 70 outpatient and specialty locations.
