Mt. Vernon, Ill., to Receive New Hospital, Surgery Center

St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital, based in Mt. Vernon, Ill., has received approval for certificate of need applications to build a new hospital, surgery center and medical building, according to a report from the Mt. Vernon Register-News.

The hospital will be 359,000 square feet and cost $185 million, according to the report. It will offer 138 beds and is twice the size of the existing St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital.

The surgery center will be built in conjunction with a medical office. The entire facility will cost close to $29 million and occupy 141,000 square feet.
