The Cleveland-based system is in the midst of a campus transformation that includes construction of a new 12-story hospital building, a connector building and a central utility plant. HGA, a national firm, will head up the design planning, architecture and engineering of those three aspects of the project.
MetroHealth chose HGA out of 15 firms.
“HGA demonstrated clearly that it has the motivation, imagination, experience and knowledge to undertake a project as large — and as important to Cuyahoga County — as the nearly $1 billion MetroHealth campus transformation,” Walter Jones, senior vice president of campus transformation at MetroHealth, said. “This firm truly was the best qualified candidate for the job, and it best understood our goals and aspirations.”
System officials anticipate the transformation project to be complete in 2023. They said the next step will involve selecting a construction manager for the new parking garage, which will have room for 1,200 to 1,500 cars. The parking garage is slated to start construction at the end of summer.
