The West Virginia Health Care Authority issued the hospital an exemption for a certificate of need to create a detoxification and residential treatment program for 19 adults and 19 adolescents. The other 20 new beds will be dedicated to forensics patients in a sex-offender unit, hospital CEO Michael Casdorph told The Exponent Telegram.
The expansion will also include an 8,000-square-foot gymnasium, a green space for patients and a day care center for employees.
Mr. Casdorph estimated Highland-Clarksburg Hospital will add 69 employees by the end of 2019, bringing the total number of full-time workers to 350.
