Good Samaritan Hospital, owned by Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA Healthcare, will break ground on a $1.3 billion expansion project Oct. 29.

The project’s first phase will involve the construction of a new structured parking facility at the San Jose, Calif.-based hospital.

Future phases will include the construction of a 469,920-square-foot patient tower and various campus infrastructure upgrades, including a new central utility plant. In total, the hospital will add 234 inpatient rooms, bringing its total bed count to 339.

The investment aims to improve access to care in Santa Clara County, where there are only 2.01 beds per 1,000 residents, according to an Oct. 27 news release.

The expansion project is slated for completion in 2032.
