El Camino Hospital budgets $398M for multipart construction project

El Camino Hospital in Mountain View, Calif., is investing $398 million in a multipart construction project to upgrade its campus, according to the Los Altos Town Crier.

The project will add two facilities to the campus, including a mental health and addiction services building and an integrated medical office building. The Mountain View campus has more than 300 beds.

After the projects are completed, the hospital plans to demolish the old building and renovate the Women's Hospital, said Ken King, chief administrative services officer for El Camino Hospital.

The first project, a 250,000-square-foot integrated medical office building, is expected to be finished by late spring 2019. The facility will connect to the main hospital, Mr. King said.

Hospital operations will extend to the building's lower portion and take up approximately 140,000 square feet on the ground, first and second floors, Mr. King said. Physicians who are currently on the second and third floors of the Women's Hospital will use the remaining 110,000 square feet for medical office space.

The second project, a 56,000-square-foot mental health facility, is anticipated to open by early spring 2019 and will connect to the main hospital through an indoor walkway.

The two projects are budgeted at $302 million and $96 million, respectively.
