Boston Children’s Hospital has received a $100 million donation from Rob and Karen Hale — the largest in the hospital’s history — to support a new $650 million pediatric psychiatric hospital.

The gift will fund the creation of an integrated care model and a state-of-the-art facility on the Brighton campus of Franciscan Children’s, also in Boston, which joined the Boston Children’s health system in 2023, according to a Dec. 10 news release.

Boston Children’s said the funding will expand inpatient and outpatient behavioral health and rehabilitation services, support research, train clinicians, strengthen community partnerships and integrate mental health services into pediatric medicine.

Stacy Drury, MD, PhD, psychiatrist in chief, will lead a national collaborative across 23 children’s hospitals to advance mental healthcare alongside a multidisciplinary team of mental health professionals.
