Wells Fargo computer glitch blamed for hundreds of mistaken foreclosures

Wells Fargo blamed a computer error for improperly denying loan modification requests for hundreds of customers between 2010 and 2015, resulting in foreclosure on many of their homes, according to CNN Money.

About 625 customers did not receive loan modifications even though they were qualified, and 400 of those homes were foreclosed upon. Wells Fargo has set aside $8 million for customers affected by the glitch.

Wells Fargo recently agreed to pay a $2.09 billion fine for issuing mortgages it knew contained incorrect information, which contributed to the 2008 real estate collapse.
