Here are five things to know about the Cupertino, Calif.-based iPhone-maker’s financial performance:
1. Apple reported $53.3 billion in revenue for the third quarter, up 17 percent from $45.4 billion posted during the same period last year.
2. The company attributed more than half of the quarter’s revenue — $29.9 billion — to iPhone sales, up 20 percent from the third quarter of 2017. Apple’s services segment represented the company’s second largest revenue driver, making up $9.5 billion in sales during this year’s third quarter.
3. International sales accounted for 60 percent of Apple’s third-quarter revenue. The Americas ($24.5 billion) and greater China ($9.6 billion) regions experienced the most revenue growth compared to one year prior, at 20 percent and 19 percent, respectively.
4. The company posted $11.5 billion in net income, up 32 percent from $8.7 billion during the third quarter of 2017.
5. Apple officials expect the company’s revenue for the fourth quarter of 2018 to be in the range of $60 billion and $62 billion.
