President Trump said the tariffs are a reaction to predatory Chinese trade practices and their $375 billion trade surplus with the U.S. China is expected to react with tariffs of their own.

Rep. Kevin Brady, R-Texas, chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, said President Trump should be careful imposing tariffs considering the possible repercussions.

“The challenge for every president is how to do it in a way that doesn’t punish Americans for China’s misbehavior,” said Mr. Brady, according to CNBC. “So, you’ve really got to narrow these and target these. It is a very discerning line to do that.”
