Perry County Community Hospital in Linden, Tenn., is set to begin accepting patients Sept. 29 for the first time in five years, pending state approval.

The reopening ceremony marks the return of full-service hospital and emergency care in Perry County after years without a local provider, according to a Sept. 25 BradenHealth news release shared with Becker’s. Greensboro, N.C.-based BradenHealth acquired the hospital Dec. 25.

The hospital is expected to begin providing emergency, inpatient and outpatient services once it receives approval from the Tennessee Health Facilities Commission. BradenHealth has reconstructed and modernized the facility to meet state and federal safety standards.

The hospital closed in 2020, the pandemic’s effect on staff, poor financial conditions and low patient volume were among the factors behind the decision.

BradenHealth has assumed operations of dozens of hospitals since 2020, acquiring those nearing closure or already closed.

“Our goal is to stop the high rate of deaths in rural communities,” Kyle Kopec, BradenHealth’s co-founder and chief compliance officer, told Becker’s in May. “Everyone’s aligned on the mission, and we’re able to execute it better each time.”
