Catholic Health hospital names president, CNO

Catholic Health’s St. Catherine of Siena Hospital in Smithtown, N.Y., has appointed two leaders to its executive team.  

Christopher Nelson was appointed president and Elizabeth McNulty, DNP, RN, the hospital’s assistant vice president of nursing administration, was promoted to chief nursing officer, according to a July 7 news release shared with Becker’s.

Mr. Nelson joins St. Catherine of Siena from Catholic Health’s St. Joseph Hospital in Bethpage, N.Y., where he served as president, according to the release.

Prior to joining Catholic Health, he was vice president of operations for NYU Langone Hospital–Long Island (formerly Winthrop-University Hospital) in Mineola, N.Y. 

Dr. McNulty brings more than three decades of experience as a professional oncology nurse, leader and educator to her new role, according to the release. 

Prior to joining Catholic Health, she held various positions at New York City-based Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, including director of acute care nursing. 

Catholic Health, based in Rockville Centre, N.Y., is a health system with more than 17,000 employees that operates six acute care hospitals, three nursing homes, a home health service, a hospice and a network of physician practices.
