Allentown, Pa.-based Lehigh Valley Health Network is integrating three artificial intelligence-based software programs into its radiology workflows at all of its medical imaging sites.

The health system will use AI-based software from technology company Aidoc to help read images and analyze them for pulmonary embolism, pneumothorax and cervical spine fracture, according to a July 11 press release from Lehigh Valley.

The technology then alerts the health system’s radiology team if any of these conditions are detected.

The health system will also install AI-based software from Rad AI that can automatically generate study impressions from a radiologist’s dictation, as well as software that will send follow-up recommendations to patients about follow-up appointments or tests if there are any incidental findings in their images.

Lehigh Valley said all software programs are slated to launch by fall 2023.
