Construction begins on South Carolina hospital: 3 things to know

Executives at Charleston, S.C.-based Roper St. Francis helped break ground Thursday on Berkeley County’s first new hospital in more than 40 years, according to The Post and Courier.

Here are three things to know about the project.

1. The total estimated cost of the facility is $113 million.

2. It is slated to include a 140,000-square-foot hospital, 50 beds, emergency and maternity departments and surgical services, according to the report.

3. Hospital officials expect the facility to open in late 2019, the report states.
