9 hospitals planning facility upgrades, expansions

The following hospitals announced or completed plans in the last week to expand, upgrade or renovate their facilities.

1. Richmond University Medical Center ED renovation gets $12.5M funding boost

Richmond University Medical Center in New York City received an additional $12.5 million funding commitment from the city for its emergency department renovation project, according to a Staten Island Advance report.

2. Henry Ford Health System breaks ground on destination cancer center
Detroit-based Henry Ford Health System broke ground June 6 on the Brigitte Harris Cancer Pavilion, which will serve as the new home for the Henry Ford Cancer Institute.

3. DC budgets $300M for United Medical Center replacement
The District of Columbia allocated millions of dollars in its proposed fiscal year 2018 budget toward a replacement facility for United Medical Center, reports Washington Business Journal.

4. Truman Medical Center, YMCA partner for clinic in under-served area
Kansas City, Mo.-based Truman Medical Center is building a 7,000-square-foot primary care facility attached to the city's newly renovated YMCA, reports The Kansas City Star.

5. Moses-Ludington commences $9.1M in renovations: 3 things to know
Moses-Ludington Hospital in Ticonderoga, N.Y., is moving forward with a $9.1 million renovation project that will expand the emergency department and increase outpatient services, according to a Press-Republican report.

6. Riverside Community Hospital opens 7-story patient tower: 4 things to know
Riverside (Calif.) Community Hospital completed the greater part of its new seven-story patient tower, according to The Press-Enterprise. The 260,000-square-foot tower includes 35 private patient rooms for intensive care patients and 70 private rooms for medical and surgical patients.

7. Beloit Health opens heart hospital
Beloit (Wis.) Memorial Hospital, part of Beloit Health System, opened its Hendrick's Family Heart Hospital, according to 23 WIFR.

8. Central Ohio Hospital Council opening emergency mental health facility
The Central Ohio Hospital Council is considering a plan to open an emergency facility that would offer walk-in services, as well as a drop-off point for police officers and EMTs, in the Columbus, Ohio area, according to The Columbus Dispatch.

9. Texas Children's Hospital extends into Austin with network of outpatient clinics
Houston-based Texas Children's Hospital unveiled plans to expand into Austin over the next five years with an extensive network of outpatient clinics, reports Chron.
