Richmond University Medical Center ED renovation gets $12.5M funding boost

Richmond University Medical Center in Staten Island, N.Y., received an additional $12.5 million funding commitment from the city for its emergency department renovation project, according to a Staten Island Advance report.

Construction on the project is currently in progress. With the most recent $12.5 million funding commitment, the city has in total committed $26 million, according to the report. The project is estimated to cost nearly $63 million.

The project involves the demolition of the Villa Annex building as well as the demolition of the Dean Fitzpatrick Building, according to the report. The demolition work will allow space for a new ED facility.

As of last September, the hospital and its partners had raised private funding of $9.5 million for the project, according to the report.
