The system said it has launched a new career website to help recruit workers, and has hired 4,235 people in the first six months of 2019, up more than 3 percent compared to the same period a year prior. More than 175 people are going through new employee orientation weekly, system officials said.
The eight-hospital system said adapting means some jobs may not be needed as much in some areas, while in other areas, it is necessary to add positions and actively recruit.
“Healthcare is experiencing significant changes in how we provide care, where care takes place and how we are reimbursed. Like most large organizations, our leaders will continue to monitor and adjust our business and org structure to ensure we can respond and adapt to the changing landscape,” system officials said.
The system said it has laid off 175 workers this year, but the terminations did not affect direct patient care positions. They affected revenue cycle, IT and financial areas, as well as employed medical groups, secretaries and clerks.
“All impacted employees were offered severance packages, and our recruitment team continues to work with many to find other Beaumont roles among the more than 1,000 available within the organization,” system officials added.
As of Aug. 5, 26 of the employees affected by the layoffs had accepted other jobs within the system.
