Healthcare gained 39,200 jobs in June, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Though slightly less than the average monthly increase of 43,000 jobs over the previous 12 months, it marks a sharp, 37% downturn from May’s 62,200-job gain.
Here are four other things to know from the July 3 report:
1. June job growth occurred in hospitals and ambulatory healthcare services, which added 16,100 and 8,700 jobs, respectively.
2. Job growth also occurred in nursing and residential care facilities, which added 14,400 jobs last month.
3. Within ambulatory healthcare services, physician offices added 3,800 jobs in June, while home healthcare services added 2,800.
4. Overall, the U.S. added 147,000 jobs across industries last month, including gains in healthcare.
