Members of SEIU-United Healthcare Workers West at eight Sutter Health facilities in Northern California have approved a new labor contract.
Approved by a 98% margin, the deal averts a strike by more than 4,700 employees, according to an Oct. 27 union news release. Members work at eight Sutter Health facilities across nine cities: Oakland, Santa Rosa, Roseville, Berkeley, Lakeport, Vallejo, Antioch, Castro Valley and San Francisco.
According to the union, the deal includes 14% across-the-board raises over the life of the contract and protects healthcare and retirement benefits for workers.
A Sutter spokesperson shared the following statement with Becker’s: “We’re pleased to have reached an agreement that supports our frontline employees while maintaining our shared focus on patient care and safety. As Sutter Health continues to achieve high safety scores, expand access to care, add new services and bring more physicians to the communities we serve, we’ll continue investing in and supporting the teams who make that care possible.”
